NFL Calls it Quits

Jun, 4: (AP) The National Football League, facing another round of ex-player lawsuits, has formally dissolved and declared bankruptcy. It is expected that the struggling AFL, now down to three teams, will soon follow suit.

 

Looking back, it was clear the end was near when the NFL and AFL catered to right-wing conservatives and nationalists in the last decade. Around 2018, the players and fans had their fill of abuse and the league’s lack of concern for their health, safety, and individual rights. When the new Democratically-controlled Congress revoked their tax-free status and imposed new rules to avoid and treating concussions, everyone knew their time was up.
