Mr. Vaughn got his start in fiction when he began work on his first novel for young adults. After years of work, classes, and research, he developed the first book in the Seldith Chronicles series–The Owl Wrangler.
Drawn by the appeal of young-adult books like Harry Potter, Watership Down, and many others, Mr. Vaughn decided to take another track toward these titles. He wanted them to be entertaining, exciting, and fun to read, but educational as well. All of his Young Adult titles are written to incorporate words and more advanced language drawn from teachers’ standardized English vocabulary guides as used in the local (highly respected) school districts. This guide has been used in classrooms around the country to help expand vocabulary, teach character development, and encourage young readers and budding writers.
A Seldith Christmas
A Seldith Christmas is the latest addition to Mr. Vaughn’s growing list of Young-Adult books. While not a part of The Seldith Chronicles series it reawakens several of its principal characters. So, what’s the story about? We begin with a mystery, a family’s desperate, last-minute escape, and a long sea voyage. The story continues in a modest clock shop run by an old man whose skill at clockmaking has few peers. His granddaughter Trudi takes up his trade at age five and eventually takes over running the shop even creating her own inventions. When fortune takes its turn, Trudi finds herself alone, an orphan, facing demanding creditors, and customers. To make matters worse, her grandfather, never revealed the secret behind his marvelous, nay magical timepieces.

The Seldith Chronicles
The Seldith Chronicles is a fully illustrated three-book series intended for middle-grade and older readers. While parents often enjoy the stories more than the kids, we suggest waiting until younger readers are comfortable with the themes of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and The Twilight Saga before reading the second and third books.
This coming-of-age series has been likened to a cross between Watership Down and Alice in Wonderland with the magic of Harry Potter. Watch the trailer…
The Seldith Chronicles is available from Amazon in both Kindle and printed forms.

The Owl Wrangler was chosen by the Lake Washington School District’s Summer Reading List in 2016.
