Introduction to SQL Server and Reporting

Given the number of people that struggled with the intermediate to advanced topics in my SQL Server and Reporting Services 9-hour series of sessions for Progressive, we've decided to offer the first in a series of introductory webinar courses to be offered each month (for the forseeable future). We're also providing guided labs for this course--as if it's taking place in a classroom. I'll be there to answer questions and if necessary setup a SharedView session with the student to debug their work in real time.

This 9-hour webinar takes a step back and shows developers how to create a new database, add tables, create primary keys, create indexes and relationships. We talk about normalization, proper data type use and lots more.

Next, we talk about creating structured query language (SQL) queries. You can't really create a report without understanding SQL--even if its encapsulated in a stored procedure or View. We'll see how to create SELECT queries and focus rowsets using TOP and WHERE clauses.

The last session walks attendees through the process of creating reports. We'll use Report Builder 2.0 for these exercises but the same skills can be applied to the Visual Studio BI tools as well.

Need some intro training? Sign up. Next month's session is still open.
